I love the scene at the end of No Country, book and movie. My understanding of the car accident is to show randomness comes for everyone, including the unstoppable killing machine Anton Chigurh.

Also, question: If I've seen the movie, is the book worth my time? Have you read much else from Cormac? Would you steer me toward something else? All I've read from him is The Road (which I liked).

Definitely. I thought the movie was an excellent rendition of the book, but there's a big difference at the end, which is handled much better in the novel. It's less ambiguous, which I recall being more powerful.

From Cormac I've read No Country, The Road, and Blood Meridian, but I have not read any of the so-called Border Trilogy. Blood Meridian is my favorite book, and one of maybe 3-4 books I've read more than once. The final stanza is absolutely superb, and "The Judge" is one of the best characters in literature. When you're done reading it we can discuss.

One of my friends has read all of the above plus the Border Trilogy, and he says All the Pretty Horses is his favorite Cormac novel.

Short answer: yes, read as much Cormac as you can stomach.

Yes: also to show that his psychotic "morality" is still intact, even after the wife's speech.

I was so enjoying all the biking songs and movies, wondering how I could respond and then the reading shut me completely up as I devolved into a puddle of tears. Thanks for the shout out. Pour me a radler!
