7/4 Shoreline was my onramp to Broken Social Scene as well. I don't know a whole lot of their music, but Spotify knows me well enough to work them in quite often.

I love Zodiac, and all of Fincher's canon for that matter. Inspired choice for a story told over a long time period.
Broadly speaking, when storytellers mess with time it makes me very, very angry. Christopher Nolan is my least favorite "famous" director. His set pieces are amazing. His action choreography is top notch. His cinematography is superb. And then every. single. time. he has to go and fuck up the entire story by telling it out of order. He should've been imprisoned for Dunkirk.
Time travel stories in general are tricky, and inevitably fall back on the trope that even when you go back in time you can't really change the future. I always appreciated the scene in the movie Looper where they make fun of the idea of time travel in a movie about time travel.
Lol I didn't hate Dunkirk (though 1917 was way better), but yeah, the writing always seems to be the weakest aspect of Nolan's movies for sure, and Tenet was probably the worst culprit, IMO.
I refuse to watch Tenet given Nolan's track record. I'm not the least bit interested in Oppenheimer either.
I understand why people like 1917, but I hated it. For about a decade straight I've been learning and researching and diving deep on WW1. To me, they took all the most fantastical, surreal stories and jammed them into a single, real-time narrative. The action and atmosphere were great, but I simply couldn't believe all of that stuff happened in a few short hours.
Love to see an Abby shoutout, Andrew! ;) Great pick. For all of their complex rhythms, Blessed are incredibly tight live. It's a wonder to watch.
I believe it.

In my opinion, their second and third albums—You Forgot It in People and the self-titled one—are masterpieces.

Haha! I hear you, Amran. It was a lot.
Lots of good stuff, thanks! I didn't get tenet and not willing to watch again in order to get it.

Absolutely loved The Place Beyond the Pines, Joel. Good pick!
Thanks! Yeah I watched it ages ago but it blew me away and has stuck with me ever since!
Me too.
